Disable Microsoft Outlook tracking option

Wonder why some people likes to track EVERY email they sent out has been read by the recipient. I doubt they have time to track all, but may be they just have too much time. This is how they track using Microsoft Outlook:

  1. In the "New Message" windows menu or toolbar, click the "Options..."
  2. Check the "Request a read receipt for this message", as shown in the picture below

Microsoft Outlook will send a notification to the sender when the recipient's message has been marked as read. If the recipient delete the email before marked it as read, although they already read the email in preview pane, Microsoft Outlook will repoert to the sender that email has been deleted.

I prefer not to be tracked by somebody. So, I always disable the email tracking options request:

  1. In Microsoft Outlook main menu, goto Tools -> Options -> Email Options -> Tracking Options
  2. Select the "Never send a response" option, as shown in the picture below
